Technothon-2015 was organised at St Soldier School here. The two-day event, with the theme “International Women’s Day Centenary,” not only aimed at enhancing the IT skills of the participants but also apprised them of the gravity of the socio-political environment where ills like female foeticide, domestic violence, harassment and abuse of women are rampant.
About 145 students from 13 schools of the tricity took part in the event.
On Day 1, students competed in colour splash on the theme Mothers’ Day; a powerpoint presentation on the theme women empowerment and a techno quiz on “women”. The bloggers exhibited their technical powers and writing skills on the theme, “Women Reservation”.
On Day 2, budding web designers presented the theme of “International Women’s Day”.
Artistic adeptness was showcased by the contestants in the poster-making competition based on the theme, “female foeticide”.
Chief guest, Rajinder Singh Sohal, DSP, Rajpura, lauded the efforts of the principal and teachers to select a thought-provoking theme, which generated innovative ideas.
