20,000 appear for CDS-II exam in city

Around 20,000 candidates appeared for the CDS-II (Combined Defence Services) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission at more than 20 centres in the city today.

Analysing the paper, a city-based UPSC CDS trainer, Kunal Singh, said: “Most of the candidates found mathematics and English paper easy and scoring relatively, while general studies section was moderate with a few tricky questions in comparison to the previous year trend”.

More than 3 lakh candidates have registered for the UPSC CDS-II 2015 against 463 seats in armed forces in comparison to 2.8 lakh youth appeared for the CDS entrance exam in October 2014. Nearly 5,000 candidates are declared successful in written examination after which they need to appear for the Service Selection Board (SSB), which evaluates a candidate’s suitability for a career in the Indian Armed Forces, in order to be recommended for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Air Force Academy.
