Dehradun, April 18
The Doon Girls School and Dehradun Boys School celebrated their 16th and 10th foundation days, respectively, here today.
The day started with a special assembly and investiture ceremony in which the oath of office was administered to the new student council. Chairman CP Dang handed over flags to the captains who promised to perform their duties sincerely. Following this, fun races were organised at the boys’ school.
Meanwhile, students from 22 schools participated in the 11th Rupali Memorial Inter-School Art Competition. Grace Academy won the overall trophy. The Purukul Development Society was adjudged second while The Asian School stood third.
Students of Class III participated in category A events under which they had to use crayons to have fun with nature or create a park scene. Pragna Patel of The Asian School bagged the first spot. Anshi Bhatt of Doon International stood second while Khushi Thakur of New Doon Blossoms stood third.
Class IV students (category B) had to use crayons along with coloured pencils to depict underwater scenery or trees. Deepjyoti Negi (Adroit Kids) stood first, Tanya Serwal (Raja Ram Mohan Roy) second and Anna Fiol (Grace Academy) third.
Participants of Class V (category C) had to present a jungle safari or depict pollution on the beaches using coloured pencils. Anish Aditya (Kasiga School) stood first, Kumari Laxmi (Himjyoti) second and Sakshi Pal (Doon Blossoms) bagged the third spot.
Students of Class VI (category D) had a choice between Earth’s lungs and every drop of water counts. Gunjan Rawat (Grace Academy) stood first, Riya Kumari (PYDS) second and Mansi Rawat (Jaswant Modern School) stood third.
Classs VII students (category E) used water colour cakes for ‘rain to sunshine’ or ‘Earth without trees. Shekinah Thouman (Grace Academy) stood first, Aditya Sharma (The Asian School) second and Vinayak Ohri (Jaswant Modern Sschool) and Ifra Naaz (PYDS) clinched the third spot.
Judges were Sushant Arya from Delhi Collage of Art, Dehradun, and Gaurabh Malakar from Welham Girls School, and Manali Deyondi. They gave away the prizes to the winners.
