Over 69 per cent students, who appeared for Class X reappear examinations of the Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH), have failed. In Class XII reappear examinations, the pass percentage is no better at 36.02. The results of examinations for both classes were announced today.
BSEH Chairman Dr Jagbir Singh said the reappear exams for Class X were conducted in September in which 1.18 lakh students appeared. Only 37,528 of them came out with flying colours.
Girls, however, fared slightly better than boys. Their pass percentage was 31.66 against 31.53 of boys. Among the examinees in rural and urban areas, the pass percentage of the latter was better at 31.85 than the former’s 30.68.
Over 81,000 had appeared for the Class XII reappear exams, and only 29,428 passed it. The pass percentage of girls (41.81) was better than that of boys (33.89). The pass percentage of urban students is 36.5 and that of rural students is 34.51.
The BSEH chief has termed the curb on mass-copying and detection of unfair means cases (UMC) as the reasons behind the dismal performance of students.
It is worth mentioning here that a whopping 51 per cent students had flunked the Class X annual exams conducted by the board.
Disappointed at the results then, Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma had shifted the blame to “mismanagement and misplaced priorities” of previous governments.
