As the emphasis on activity-based learning is increasingly being laid upon, some of the schools have incorporated activity-based learning in their curricula.

But it is also giving a boost to several coaching institutes and ‘educational studios’ that are springing up in the city.

Abhinav Kumar from a recently opened studio Brain Box said the importance of activity-based learning is increasing internationally. “Through several activities, we make children understand the practical application of what they study,” he said.

Showing some of the activities, he said practical application of subjects such as mathematics, physics, etc can be taught through these activities.

“Apart from giving students an idea of how the theoretical concepts are applied, these create an interest amongst students for learning more, as they start understanding the subjects better,” he said.

He demonstrated how students can be taught the function of windmill, hydraulic pump, etc.
