Students admitted to Jage Ram Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Jahangirpur village located on the Jhajjar-Badli road are a harassed lot as their classes are conducted at the ITI in Matanhel village, which is over 30 kms away from here.
Though a new building for the ITI is ready at Jahangirpur village, but the authorities are yet to start classes due to non-availability of a power connection here.
Significantly, Chief Minister Manohal Lal Khattar had inaugurated this new building through a remote during his Jhajjar visit in May and the authorities had claimed to begin the classes in the building from the new academic session, but they failed to meet the deadline as they did not get a power connection.
“The second academic session of the ITI is on, but the classes are not being conducted at Matanhel village causing resentment among villagers,” said Kuldeep, a villager.
Sunil, a student of Jhangirpur ITI, said the authorities had assured them of holding the classes in the village at the time of admissions, but nothing had been done in this regard.
“Students are a harassed lot due to poor transport services between Jahangipur and Matanhel village. Most times we have to change buses twice to reach our institute,” Sunil added.
Due to this reason, students had disrupted traffic on the Badli road on Monday for over an hour to attract the attention of the authorities towards their problem. They also threatened to block the road again if the classes were not conducted in Jahangirpur village soon.
Rajender Singh, officiating principal of the Jahangirpur ITI, said the classes were not being held in the new building due to non-availability of electricity connection there. The process to get the connection was underway.
“Hopefully, the power corporation will install power meters in the building within 10 days. Thereafter, we will start conducting classes in the village,” he added.
