CHANDIGARH: Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, here, celebrated its annual function with fervour. The students of the school performed various items on the stage with full enthusiasm.

World Wetlands Day

To senitise student about World Wetlands Day, a special assembly was organised at AKSIPS, Sector 45, wherein senior students discussed the importance of wetlands. The seniors apprised the juniors about the multiple benefits of water bodies and threats caused to them due to pollution and misuse.

Shoes distributed

Rotary Club, Chandigarh Central, visited Government High School, Dadu Majra, and distributed shoes among 70 students of the senior and junior classes.

Farewell function

A farewell function for Class XII students was organised on the premises of Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28. Japneesh of Class XII, arts stream, bagged the title of Miss Saint 

Soldier and Amandeep Singh of Class XII, commerce stream, was chosen as Mr Saint Soldier.

Painting competition

An inter-school painting competition was organised at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 46. The competition was organised by the Sohanjana Eco Club in collaboration with Electrical Division No 9 on the topic “Save Energy”. As many as 100 students of seven schools participated in the competition.

Students made aware of traffic rules

Mohali: To spread awareness among students about road safety and traffic rules, DAV School organised a workshop for students from Classes V to XII. During the workshop, stress was laid on the awareness of traffic rules and good driving habits such as necessity of obeying traffic lights, use of helmets, seats belts, not using mobile phone while driving and discouraging underage driving without a licence.

Woollens distributed 

The management of Golden Bells Public School, Sector 77, distributed woollens and other clothing items among underprivileged children living on the outskirts of Phase VIII here. Students of the school earlier also donated books, notebooks, furniture among needy persons of society.

Workshop on petroleum conservation

A workshop on petroleum conservation was organised by representatives of the Petroleum Conservation Research Organisation (PCRA) at Gem Public Senior Secondary School, Phase 3B-II, here. Various activities were organised to sensitise the students about the sustainable and optimum use of fuels.

Investiture ceremony

Vivek High School, Sector 70, here, organised its investiture ceremony for the 2014-15 academic session here on Thursday. The event began with a ‘tilak ceremony’ of the outgoing batch. The march past was led by school captains Aastha Kapoor and Harnayaran and members of the Student Council. On the occasion, Anmolkiran Singh, Pranshu Bhatia and Ishma Singh were awarded a memento and were honoured with the value awards for their honesty, compassion and politeness.

Show and Tell Activity

Panchkula: Students of Nursery and KG of New India Senior Secondary School, Sector 15, here participated in a “Show and Tell Activity” with great enthusiasm. The students brought their favourite toys to speak about them. — TNS
