B.Tech students of Shivalik College awarded degrees

Dehradun, March 4

The Shivalik College of Engineering organized its first annual convocation here today to award degrees to passing out B.Tech students of the 2009–2013 batch. The is the first convocation at the college in which the alumni of the college visited their alma mater and shared their nostalgic memories and experiences in interaction with students and faculty of the college.

Dr Ravindra Kumar, a Padamshree awardee and educationist, was the chief guest of the convocation. Ajay Kumar, under whose initiative the IBM System Centre of Excellence has been established in the college in collaboration with IBM, felicitated Dr. Ravindra Kumar. Amit Singh, Registrar, Shivalik College of Engineering, welcomed all dignities, recipients of degrees and the alumni of the college. Col Dr Rakesh Sharma (retd) , Director General, Shivalik College of Engineering, presented the annual report of the college.

Prof RK Singh, Examination Controller, Uttarakhand Technical University, and Dr Ashish Uniyal, Deputy Registrar, Uttarakhand Technical University, attended the convocation ceremony as a guest of honour and authorised the engineering college to award degrees to the students.

Dr Ravindra Kumar called upon students to explore their true potential to achieve their goals and make a successful career in life. He awarded degrees to 225 graduating students.

Dr Ravindra Kumar, who was former Vice-Chancellor of CCS University, Meerut, and at present the editor-in-chief of Global Peace International Journal, focused on the importance of moral education along with technical education and encouraged students to carry out their responsibilities with conviction and dedication. He said by giving them top notch technical education, the Institution had provided them with a chance to create a bright and opportune future. By sticking to the principles tailored by the institution over the years with honesty, all students can bring more meaningful and important changes in their lives and society.

HC Devrani, adviser of the college, presented a vote of thanks. The post-lunch session included games, presentations, cultural and band performances for the alumni.
