BBA, BCA most sought-after courses at city colleges

On the first day of admission to all city colleges, more than 60 per cent of the seats of BBA and BCA courses were filled. At SD College, as many as 131 seats of BBA were filled by afternoon, while in BCA 109 out of 131 seats were filled.

At DAV College also, of the 120 seats for BBA and BCA courses, respectively, 89 seats each were filled today.

Even the demand for these two courses was high at government colleges in the city. On the first day of the admission, of the 80 seats, 54 were filled at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11; of 80 seats, 56 were filled at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11; of 80 seats, 25 were filled at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42, and of 80 seats, 25 were filled at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46.

For BBA course, of 80 seats, 55 were filled at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, and of 40 seats, 32 were filled at the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 42, today.

Craze for BSc (medical courses) declined this year. At SD College, of the 140 seats, only 86 were filled. Even at government colleges, the demand for BSc (Medical) was not high on the first day.

Of the 120 seats, 39 were filled at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11; of the 120 seats 74 were filled at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11; and of the 120 seats, 29 were filled at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42.

Experts believed that this year the demand of BCom declined among the students and they again preferred BBA and BCA courses, which were less in demand in the past three years. In a majority of the colleges, the applications received for BBA and BCA was almost 10 times more than the seats available this year.

Student parties misguiding students

On Day 1, a number of cases came into light in which candidates were misguided by student leaders in a few colleges due to which they got delayed in appearing for admission counselling or depositing their fee.
