Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in association with the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, organised a programme to launch the book, “Batvara”, a biography of Dr SPS Oberoi, a reputed philanthropist, on Tuesday. The book has been authored by Dr Sarbjinder Singh and published by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki was the chief guest on the occasion. Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover; Dr Gurmohan Singh Walia, Vice-Chancellor, Shri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib; Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, and eminent poet Surjit Patar were present on the occasion. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of scholarships among students of Panjab University. Representatives of the Sarbat da Bhala Trust handed over a cheque for Rs. 3,45,592 to the central placement cell, Panjab University.
Orientation course
As many as 52 college and university teachers joined the 113th orientation course at the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, on Tuesday. Karamjeet Singh, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, PU, briefed the participants regarding the content and delivery mechanism of the four-week long faculty development programme. Prof OP Katare, Director, Research Promotion Cell, was the chief guest on the occasion. Inspire Camp The fourth DST Inspire Internship Camp was inaugurated by Prof Jai Rup Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, at the law auditorium of Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh. Prof G Narahari Sastry, DST-JC Bose National Fellow, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, was the guest of honour. Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover presided over the inauguration ceremony. — TNS
