Ludhiana: DAV Public school, BRS Nagar, conducted a three-day career orientation programme on ‘Future Education and complete career mapping like GPS’ for the students of Class X, XI and XII. More than 850 students attended the programme. The students from varied backgrounds were made aware of a plethora of career options in India and abroad. The information about the job works for students while studying was appreciated by one and all, particularly by the students who are willing to study abroad. The career options shared by Dr Tripat Deep Singh Dua were awe-inspiring and many of the students and their parents reviewed their future prospects to make timely and wise changes and decisions. Kshitij Adlakha, a cyber security expert, made the students and parents aware about “netiquette” that would go a long way in ensuring personal, financial and family security. His talked on smart work and working hard smartly. His talk was really an eyeopener for this Internet generation that refers to browsers for every petty need. His guidelines on exercising caution in uploading pictures on Whatsapp and Facebook found favour with students. The students and their parents showed keen interest in the session and interacted with resource persons. They, in turn, answered their queries in a very convincing manner. Dr Tripat Deep Singh Dua lauded the Principal JK Sidhu’s endeavour of reaching out to her students and providing them with timely guidance to avoid saturated and stagnant career options.

Preschool students upbeat

It was a jubilant week for the students and parents of Oliver House, Preschool and Daycare, as the students secured admissions to the most prominent schools of Ludhiana, Sacred Heart Convent, BCM Shastri Nagar and Basant Avenue, Guru Nanak Public, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, Bal Bharti, Jesus Sacred Heart, to name a few. Their parents were delighted as almost all of them secured their child’s future by getting them admitted to the school of their choice.

Inter-house carol singing contest

Ryan International School, Dugri, held an inter-house carol singing competition on the school premises. The competition was held for the students of Class I onwards. The students actively participated in the singing competition. The students were dressed beautifully as fairies, Santa Claus and shepherds. The first position was bagged by Raman House, second by Newton House and Einstein House and the third position was secured by Aryabhatta House. Headmistress of the school Ritu Syal congratulated all winners.

Students shine in martial art meet

Students of Green Land Convent School, Sector 32, Chandigarh Road, proved their mettle in the Punjab Schools Board District-level Sky Martial Art Championship. The competition was organised at Guru Nanak Public School. Many schools participated in the competition. Of 10 students of Green Land Convent School, eight bagged silver and bronze medals. Khushi, Amita, Mehak, Sakshi, Nishant, Kamal, Jagjeet, Akshit, Diksha and Haramanpreet Kaur were selected for state-level tournaments, stated a press note issued by the school. — TNS
