Chitkara University, Baddi, has been accredited with B grade portraying good level of facilities by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to assess the quality of education being provided by institutions of higher learning.
The university had voluntarily invited the NAAC to visit and assess it, said Registrar Virender Kanwar.
The prime mandate of the NAAC is to evaluate and accredit institutions of higher learning. It functions through its general council and executive committee. A peer team comprising senior educational administrators, policy makers and renowned academicians from a cross-section of institutions of higher learning visited the university over a period of three days.
An intense examination and assessment of various parameters pertaining to curricular aspects, pedagogy, research and consultancy, extension activities, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance and leadership and Innovative practices was carried out.
Six members team led by Dr AK Pujari, Rajasthan Central University Vice Chancellor visited Chitkara University from April 21-23 to assess it on various parameters.
“Education plays a vital role in the development of any nation. Therefore, there is a premium on both quantity and quality of higher education. Chitkara University has taken a quality initiative and has successfully sustained itself and it has invested liberally in developing student facilities, giving its students access to state-of-the art-laboratoriess, high end computing facilities, libraries, sporting and social facilities” said Kanwar.
