A student of Class IX of Navodaya School in Hasan (Karnataka) and Bharatnatyam dancer Swathi Bhardwaj was a cynosure of all eyes as she showcased her dancing talent at the recently concluded Universal Rang Mahotsav.
The Class XI student started learning dance at the age of two years under the tutelage of Rekha Jagdish of Bengaluru.
Swathi gave her first performance at the age of four years.
“I want to hone my skills further and take up research work in dance. I am also teaching dance to my students at home, this helps me improving my dancing skills,” she added.
Swathi has given around 1,000 dance performances between 2002 and 2014. She has also created a sorts for continuous dancing (26 hours) in the guinness book of world records.
“My intention was not to create a record, but to dance without stopping and I enjoyed it,” she said.
“I do not miss my classes. All my shows are planned during my holidays. After all, school is important,” she added.
A film buff, Swathi is also an accomplished musician, but for now, she will concentrate in learning and refining her dancing skills.
