Colleges welcome freshers via orientation programmes

Various city colleges held orientation programmes for freshers on their premises to mark the commencement of the new academic session.

GCCBA, Sector 50

The Government College of Commerce and Business Administration (GCCBA), Sector 50, Chandigarh, organised their first orientation programme on the new campus today, which marked the beginning of the session 2016-17.

Principal Manjit Kaur emphasised that the teachers as mentors would help them to develop winning skills to grow academically and professionally. The Dean Academics highlighted the ‘do’s and don’ts’ and the expectations from the students to be good learners to achieve success. The vice-principal, Registrar Examinations and other in charges also informed the students of the opportunities to excel in various activities, competitions inside and outside the college available to them. Students were also made aware of the use of internet facility available free of cost at the fully Wi-Fi enabled campus of the GCCBA.

GGSCW, Sector 26

Guru Gobind Singh College for Women (GGSCW), Sector 26, organised an inaugural function to begin the new session 2016-17. Principal Dr Charanjeet Kaur Sohi formally welcomed the freshers and explained the college motto ‘Vidya Vichaari Taan Paropkari’ to the students. She urged them to follow the path of self-righteousness and to never deviate from the chosen path of truth. Keeping in view the declining moral values in the present society, the principal stressed on the need to follow the teachings of the Sikh gurus in our day-to-day life.

PGGCG, Sector 42

An orientation programme was organised for the first-year students of different streams at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls (PGGCG), Sector 42 in which more than 800 students took part. Principal Mani Bedi addressed the students and motivated them to achieve all-round excellence. She elaborated that such programmes would go a long way in understanding the academic environment of the college.
