DAV College to start diploma in beauty care from this session

DAV College, Sector 10, is introducing a new diploma course in cosmetology and beauty care from this academic session. The college authorities have got approval for running this course on its campus from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, under the Community College Scheme.
The college authorities revealed that in all, 376 colleges and universities applied for the course and only 106 had been selected for it. Only two colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, are selected under the scheme.
Giving this information, Principal of the college Dr BC Josan told that last year the college had got a grant of Rs 92.30 lakh for starting advanced diploma course in medical lab technology under the Community College Scheme. The college had set up a new department with well-furnished labs and classrooms.
Dr Manju Dewan, Nodal Officer, Community College, said the entire grant would be given by the UGC, New Delhi, to set up new department at the college.
She said this course would provide better job avenues to the students.
Dr Manju said the college collaborated with three industry partners - Olegga Professionals, Sector 11, Chandigarh, Gk & Guys, Sector 44, Chandigarh, and Crita, Sector 15, Chandigarh - for providing assistance, training and placement to the students pursuing the course.
