Kurukshetra, May 2
Managements of private colleges have hailed the state government decision to bring all 524 B.Ed colleges in the state under Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU), Jind. As many as 327 colleges affiliated with MDU, Rohtak; 169 attached to Kurukshetra University; and 28 to Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, will now come under Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU), Jind.
Hisar-based SV Arya, president of the Association of NCTE-Approved Colleges Trust, told The Tribune that bringing B.Ed colleges under one umbrella was a long-pending demand.
“The three universities that will be divested of the B.Ed colleges have their own of procedure of admission, examination and curriculum. Non-uniformity in rules and academic standards left no scope for improvement in B.Ed colleges,” said Arya.
He said apprehensions regarding students facing difficulty in commuting to the Jind campus were unfounded. “All B.Ed colleges will be connected to the Jind university online.”
Roshan Lal Gupta, vice-president of a self-financed B.Ed college, said the state government should affiliate all colleges to the Jind varsity from this academic session. Gupta, who manages several educational institutes in Kurukshetra, blamed a section of teachers for painting private B.Ed colleges in a negative light.
“There are several complaints of misbehavior by inspecting teams of universities. Professors with vested interests are making derogatory statements against B.Ed colleges as they will lose their control over private colleges. I have brought it to the notice of the KU authorities but to no avail,” he said.
A KU functionary said the decision to attach all B.Ed colleges to one university was a good idea.
