Students celebrated annual day by staging ‘Chaupal’, a unique presentation of several traditional folk tales which have been passed on from one generation to other. Uday Kumar Verma, vice-chairman, DPS, Mohali, was the chief guest on the occasion. The show involved all the students of the school in a spectacular performance enriched with scintillating music, vibrant costumes, brilliantly choreographed dances, props and mime. The rustic set designing and the lighting added flavor to the show which was staged in the school amphitheatre fully packed to its capacity.
KB DAV School (Sector 7)
‘Dignity of labour’ was the theme of morning assembly for Class III students. They were dressed up in different attires to showcase various professions and their inter-dependence in the society. There was a short play on the importance of manual labour. To have the participation of the audience, students played interesting riddles and to add on to the humour, there were tongue twisters. The highlight of the show was a speech by Shivansh Bhardwaj.
DAV Public School (Sector 8-C)
Joy of giving was celebrated on the school premises with great enthusiasm. The students of Peace Club collected various items and cash for the children of Snehalaya. All the students and teachers of the school contributed for the noble cause. Principal Jaskiran Harika applauded the efforts of students and encouraged them to keep up such activities as an ongoing process.
Small Wonders School (Mohali)
Students celebrated Thanksgiving Day with children of NGO Nanhi Jaan. Various fun games and storytelling sessions were organised on the school premises. The students also shared gifts amongst children. “It is motivating to see the students contribute towards the society by bring smiles on the faces of less privileged children. Usually students donate their books or clothes but this time we are seeing them changing the mindset of the society by spending time with them,” said Dr Sandeep Chatwal from Nanhi Jaan.
Sacred Heart Sr Sec School
Students of the primary wing celebrated annual function at Indradhanush Stadium, Sector 5, Panchkula. The Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Anurag Aggarwal, was the chief guest for the morning show. The Additional Director of Income Tax, Manish Sareen, was the guest of honour. The chief guest for the evening show was Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas. The programme started with a prayer dance by the students of Class V. The annual school report highlighted the achievements of the school was also presented.
Kendriya Vidyalaya (Sector 47)
Students celebrated their annual sports day and the chief guest on the occasion was Devesh Moudgil, Senior Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. After the oath ceremony, sthe tudents contested in various disciplines of track and field events. Sahil Kanet of Class XII D, Yadvenra of Class VIII C and Chandrima Nain of Class X C were declared the Best Athlete, Best Hand Ball Player and Best Shooter, respectively. Pawan Kumar of Class IX and Shaina Ali of Class X were declared the Best Sportsman and Best Athlete, respectively from second shift.
Mount Carmel School (Sector 47)
Students participated in the sports day on the school premises with fervour and zeal. Classes pre-nursery to VII took part in chipmunks on the move, slow cycling race, sack race, skipping race and three-legged race. The highlight of the day was the clown race wherein students showcased their coordination and team work. All the winners were felicitated by the directors, Annie Charles and Charles Samuel. Principal Lily Banerjee emphasised on the importance of team work.
AKSIPS-45
To generate awareness on drug abuse, street play ‘Aakhir Kado tak’ was staged at AKSIPS-45 Smart School. The Red Arts Group from Panjabi University, Patiala, through the play explained how the youth of the country was falling prey to drugs. —TNS
