Despite financial strains, Ankita makes her parents proud

Ankita Sharma, a commerce student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, secured 93.89 per cent marks in the Class XII examinations. What makes her achievement special is her struggle to prepare for the exams.

Her father, a contractual Class IV employee with the Haryana Government, has not been able to spent a single penny on her daughter’s education. Knowing her family’s financial situation, Ankita used to study on her own before appearing for the exams. At the age, when she herself required some guidance, Ankita used to teach children of nearby areas to earn money so that she could but books. She also teaches her younger brother, who is a Class IX students at a local school.

“Ankita has studied on her own. I always regretted for not being able to bear her expenses. But, she never demanded a single penny. She is a bright child who wants to become a successful person,” said Shakti Chand Sharma, Ankita’s father.

Meanwhile, ignoring her father’s worry, Ankita wants to run her own accounts firm. “My aim needs dedication rather than financial support. I don’t want to be a burden on my parents rather wish to make them comfortable and proud of me. Initially, I struggled but as the time progressed, I started enjoying the challenge and secured good marks. No one in our family has perfored so well in academics. I hope my success would lead me to a right path,” said Ankita.
