Dev Sanskriti varsity to tie up with Latvia

Haridwar, June 8

Haridwar-based Dev Sanskriti University has collaborated with Latvia to deliver yoga education.

Latvia has also agreed to open a semi-Baltic centre in Dev Sanskriti University too — It would be the first in the Asian continent.

Dev Sanskriti University Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Chinmay Pandya signed an agreement in this regard with Latvian Foreign Minister Vize Tao during his visit to Latvia.

With opening up of the Baltic centre, cultural exchange between the two countries will get a boost and exchange programmes between the universities would be facilitated.

Dr Chinmay Pandya said that as June 21 is being celebrated as International Yoga Day by Unesco worldwide, Dev Sanskriti University is observing this day in 25 countries, including Latvia.

He added that Dev Sanskriti University yoga experts will train people of these foreign countries in yoga and various programmes will be organised to mark the maiden International Day for Yoga.

Besides Latvia, Dev Sanskriti University yoga experts will cover United States of America, England, Canada, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Mombasa and Malaysia among others.

A three-day national teachers’ workshop concluded at Shantikunj recently, wherein school teachers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand participated. The workshop focused on teaching students didactic along with professional education. Spiritual ideologue of Gayatri Shantikunj Dr Pranav Pandya, in his address, said that with moral and social values, the younger generation will tread the right path, taking the country forward.

“Teachings of revered philosopher Swami Vivekananda, Shantikunj founder Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya and other spiritual, patriotic and moralistic values need to be taught to the students. One becomes what he thinks; younger minds can be groomed easily, so moral teachings hold a significant place and teachers play a pivotal role in this,” said Dr Pandya.

Coordinator Gauri Shankar Sharma said that students’ age is filled with energy, which needs to be channelised in the right direction, the art of which teachers should know.

Senior activists Vereshwar Upadhyay, Keshari Kapil, Dr RP Karmayogi, Namo Narayan Pandey and PD Gupta, among others, addressed various sessions at the workshop.
