Doon Hospital hikes user charges by 10%

The Doon Hospital authorities have announced a 10 per cent hike in user charges for all treatments and admission fee from tomorrow (January 1).
The hospital hikes the user charges every year. The prescription slip for non-BPL patients will now cost Rs 17. Earlier, it was Rs 15.
Patients to be kept in private wards will have to shell out Rs 24 more per day.
Earlier, the one day cost of admission was Rs 242, but now it will be Rs 266.
Similarly, OPD will cost Rs 89, an increase of Rs 8.
“Every year 10 per cent hike is affected in the user charges. The collection will go to the government treasury,” said Dr RS Aswal, Principal Superintendent, Doon Hospital.
On the other hand, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Surinder Singh Negi has also announced free diagnostic facilities to all patients from the new year. It remains to be seen how the announcement will be implemented.
