Shamrock Christian Senior Secondary School, Hambran Road, celebrated Earth Day. Students were told about the ill-effects of global warming. Various activities were conducted including a seminar on environmental pollution. Students of the KG and primary section worked on go green project. They planted saplings and also painted trees on their art books. Students took a pledge to avoid plastic and participated in paper and jute bag making competition. The middle section students whole heartedly participated in the fancy dress competition. Students came up beautifully dressed up for the occasion. An essay writing competition, ‘clean cities—green cities’ was conducted by the Class IX students.

Manav Rachna International School

‘It’s Our Turn to Lead’ was the slogan for Earth day celebrations at Manav Rachna International School. The celebrations started with a special assembly. Reflecting their belief in the adage — charity begins at home —students depicted the theme of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Students performed a Nukkad Natak to convey the message of keeping surroundings clean and in turn taking care of the Mother Earth. They communicated that we are fortunate to have born on Earth and we must take care of Mother Earth. A short quiz was also conducted by the children to generate awareness. Thereafter, the students of Classes I to VII worked on various themes related to Earth Day.

BCM School, Dugri

The World Earth Day was celebrated on the school premises with the thought —“Natural resources get depleted when they are used Human resources get depleted when they are not used”. Story enactment based on nature was performed by the students of Class III. A rally with various posters and slogans was taken out in which the teachers also actively participated. Hindi poem recitation was organised for students of Class VI.

DCM Presidency School

To mark Earth Day and emphasize upon the need to save trees, various activities were conducted in the school. Students proudly shouldered the responsibility to usher a green tomorrow and untiring effort was being made to spread awareness to conserve environment. Eco-drawing competition was held for the students. They prepared collages on the topic-Clean India, Green India. Environment rally was also carried out on the occasion. Principal Nupur Nutan said such activities develop among the children an urge to conserve the resources of the earth and maintain ecological balance.

GGN Public School

The World Earth Day was celebrated by the students and staff of GGN Public School, Rose Garden, with enthusiasm. To create awareness among students about dangers to the mother earth, a special morning assembly was conducted in which students presented inspirational poems, speeches, one act play and choreography to give a wakeup call to save Mother Earth from the increasing environmental degradation and exhorted everybody to save all the gifts of earth like flora and fauna, soil and water from the unhealthy man made practices, growing industrialisation, deforestation, and urbanisation. Students and staff members took out a rally. Students carrying placards and raising the slogans sensitised the people towards the increasing pollution that is plaguing our mother earth.

Tagore Public School

World Earth Day was celebrated at Tagore Public School, Aggar Nagar. As trees play a vital role in our life to preserve the greenery of motherly nature earth, students of Classes III to V recited beautiful poems on ‘How to Save Earth’, ‘Clouds’, ‘Save mother nature’, Environment, ‘Save Earth Plant trees’. Hundreds of saplings were planted in and around the campus by the students. Later on a rally was taken out in Aggar Nagar as well as on Ferozepur Road.

Green Grove Public School

Celebrations commenced with a welcome song by choir group. A power point presentation, songs, speeches were presented by the students about Earth Day. Students took a pledge and planted saplings. They were told about the importance of trees and recycling. The school was filled with thoughtful, heartwarming inspiring messages and ecologically poignant artworks made by students.

Guru Nanak Public School

Kindergarten section of Guru Nanak Public School celebrated Earth Day by going green and organised a variety of activities which engaged the students to understand and protect our home planet. The aim of celebration was to showcase classroom environmental education to the tiny tots. It also highlighted efforts to engage the school kids to make a difference by doing their little bit to save our planet Earth. Children were shown videos related to Earth Day. Teachers educated the kids to eliminate the use of plastic bags. A tree plantation drive was also organised where children with the help of their teachers planted saplings.

MGM Public School

The students of MGM Public School, Dugri, celebrated Earth Day with great enthusiasm. Students participated in a cycling campaign which was the main attraction of the celebrations to inspire everybody to ‘Save Earth, Save Petrol, Ride Bicycle’. Several other activities like planting of saplings to keep our environment green, getting the best out of waste, making of decorative paper bags and poster making were organised in which environmental messages were highlighted. Students vowed to nurture the saplings themselves which reflected their emotions for Mother Earth.

BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar

BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar, observed World Earth Day. More than 4,000 children took pledge to protect Mother Earth. Keeping in mind the concern to protect Mother Earth, tiny tots of UKG took out a cycle rally carrying banners and placards with the message to ‘Go Green- Save Planet Earth’ to incorporate the use of cycle at least once a week so as to cut down the pollution. Students participated in a fancy dress competition themed ‘The World is in my Hands’.

New GMT Public School

Earth Day was celebrated enthusiastically at New GMT Public School. Various activities were conducted to make students aware about the planet. A poem recitation on ‘How can I celebrate my Earth Day’ was held in junior classes. Students of Class VI to X made posters to suggest different ways to save our planet from pollution.

Guru Gobind Singh Public School

Earth Day was celebrated with great fervor on the premises of Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Pakhowal Road, Daad. Special arrangements were made to celebrate the day. School campus was decorated with beautiful and colorful flowers. In the morning assembly all the students took an oath that each one of them will nurture at least one plant in every year. Some students have brought the saplings with them which they planted in the garden of the school. Events like poster making, slogan writing were organised for all the classes.

Childhood Kindergarten

It was a action packed day at Childhood Kindergarten, Punjab Mata Nagar, as students availed an opportunity to join together and create a global green economy by celebrating Earth Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. They got a chance to spend their entire day in a tree house doing fun activities and holding messages to save Mother Earth.

SDP Senior Secondary School

SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, celebrated Earth Day on the school premises. To sensitise students, a debate was organised. Students took active participation in it. A special morning assembly was conducted in which students were urged to consciously slow down the use of technology and modernisation for protecting the mother earth from bad consequences.

Babies’ Paradise Playway

Earth Day was celebrated to teach the children to grow more and more trees. Teachers told the children to save electricity and water. The children planted many saplings and gave the message to others to grow more plants. — TNS
