Ludhiana: Students of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, participated in English declamation contest. As many as 23 students from different sections participated in the event. They showed their oratory skills by expressing their views in confident manner on subjects including “Thank you God, Why?, Books- my friends, What you can do? Sharing, student’s life, Never be boastful, Nature- Now and in future, Make my life a little light, A day in sky, Child labour, mother, try- try again, Save girl child, Mother, the future, My school promise, A good play, Dream of today’s girl child, Mother of love, Open house, A prayer from my teacher, Key to success and Real God etc.’ Meanwhile, a seminar was also organised for the teachers of Mathematics at the school. About 35 teachers from different branches of Nankana Sahib Education Trust participated in it. The Resource Person SN Chibber interacted with the mathematics teachers and shared his experience of teaching this subject. Giving important tips to make the subject of Mathematics interesting, Chibber spoke at length while citing examples from daily life. He said mathematics is used sin every sphere of life from going to shopping or visiting any place etc.

Orientation programme

Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, organised an orientation programme for the parents based on “Parenting in this Digital Age”. Shamina Deol, school counsellor and a motivational trainer was the resource person. She acquainted the parents with the newfound diagnosis termed as ‘internet addiction disorder’ and the consequences of being addicted to internet. She also laid emphasis on the best techniques to be followed while parenting the new generation. The audience was captivated by the information dispensed during the session which was a blend of activities and information.

Students perform well

Students of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, secured overall second position in Capt Daljit Singh Grewal (Olympian) Memorial Primary Wing Athletics Meet 2015-16 held at Peace Public School. Gurnoor Kaur and Gurbakshish Singh of Class II got second and third position in 400 M, 4X100 m relay, 400 m and 4X400m. Aishpreet Singh of UKG got third position in relay race. Principal Ravi Kant honoured the students in the morning assembly and appreciated them for their outstanding performance.

Inter-school shabad gayan competition

Prof Gurbir Singh Sarna II Inter-School Shabad Gayan Competition was held at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town. Seventeen teams from the city including host school participated in the competition. The teams were to render the shabads from the Gurbani in various ragas. Shabads like ‘Mohan Neend Naan Aawe’ (Raga Bilawal Partaal), ‘Tau Darsan Ki Karo Samaee’ (Raga Tilang), ‘Jap Man Jagannath Jagdisro’ (Raga Sarang), ‘Sajan Des Videsirey’ (Raga Tukhari), ‘Pritpal Prabh Kripal’(Raga Bharon), ‘Prabh Tere Pug Ki Dhoor’ (Raga Todi), ‘Sagal Bhawan Ke Naikeya’ (Raga Gauri Poorbi), ‘Jap Man Gobind Har Gobind Guni Nidhan’ (Raga Sarang) etc. were recited melodiously by the participants which made the ambience of the school pious and serene. Competition concluded with recitation of ‘Har Jeeo Nimaneya Tuun Maan Nachejayan Cheej Karan Mera Gobind Teri Kudrat Kao Qurban’ The message conveyed was ‘divine worship through music is the best means of attaining a state of bliss’. Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, won the first position (along with cash prize of Rs. 11,000); GGN Public School, Rose Garden, bagged the second place (along with cash prize of Rs 5,100) while BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, stood third (along with cash prize of Rs 3,100) MGM Public School, Dugri, and Springdale Senior Secondary Public School, Sherpur, were awarded appreciation prize each.

Training session

BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, in collaboration with Traffic Police Department, Ludhiana, arranged a ‘Traffic Club’ today. Sukhdev Singh, ASI, Traffic Police, Ludhiana, was the resource person. He sensitised the students and teachers regarding the importance of following traffic rules to save precious lives. The facts and figures presented by him about road accidents especially in Ludhiana were really alarming and an eye-opener for the students. He emphasised on the need to drive safe in the wake of increasing traffic and unrest and toavoid road rage. He briefed them on road safety and traffic rules.

Quest for math held

Peace Public School hosted Sahodaya Inter-School Quest for Math. Thirteeen schools participated in the various activities conducted during the competition. Activities including math quiz, brain storming, model making and skit were held. First, second and third position in brain Storming was bagged by Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Jatindera Green Field School and Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary School, respectively. The first, second and third position in skit competition was bagged by Jatindera Green Field School, Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School and DAV Public School, respectively. The first, second and third position in Math quiz was bagged by Eastwood International School, Atam Devki Niketan and Sacred Heart Convent Senior School, respectively. The first, second and third position in model making was bagged by Sacred Heart Convent Sr. Sec. School, Guru Gobind Singh Public School and DAV Public School, respectively. — TNS
