The first ski course concluded at the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) at Gulmarg in north Kashmir.
IISM Principal JS Dhillon said the two-week course concluded today and the institute would hold five more courses in winter months and train around 500 students from all over the country.
Dhillon said the IISM not only trained students in skills, but also served as a platform to integrate Kashmiri youth with the rest of the country. He said the institute had been taking active part in national skiing events and the IISM sponsored many youth from remote areas of Kashmir for such training.
MLA, Gulmarg, Mohammad Abbas Wani was the chief guest and the Director (Finance), Ministry of Tourism, Nitin Kumar, was the guest of honour at the concluding function of the first ski course. —TNS
