Chandigarh: As a part of “Muskurane do Bachpan”, an initiative against child abuse undertaken by Rotaract Club, the students of MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, organised a flash mob to spread awareness at the Student Centre in Panjab University. Students also shouted thought-provoking slogans at the venue. The initiative received an overwhelming response. Applauding the endeavour, college principal Dr Puneet Bedi said such innovative and novel method would strike the right chord with the youth.
Seminar
A seminar on global outlook on biotech and pharma patents was organised by the department of biotechnology at GGDSD College, Sector 32. In the inaugural lecture, Dr Parikshit Bansal, managing director, Excellion Innovations, Mohali, explained the significance of commercialising patented technologies with special focus on the necessity of early filing of patents. In the technical session, Mr Garry Bedi, senior scientist, intellectual property management, IMTECH, shared his expertise with the audience on patent filing in India and patent cooperation treaty.
Moot court
The team of University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, won the Trail Advocacy Moot Court Competition 2015 held at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. The team members included Deepanshu Mehta, Aakash Mohan Singh, S Parth Swami and Abhinandan Mutneja. Twelve teams from various law institutes had taken part in the event.
College fest
The two-day Colossium 2k15, a fest organised by the commerce and management society of DAV College, Sector 10, concluded on Tuesday. An event, Price Prediction, was organised in which the audience guessed the prices of products shown. In the afternoon, musical bands competed with each other.
Inter-college competitions
The Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, organised the annual functional English festival FEN-FEST. The fest covered creative writing, live ad show, public service announcement, role play RJ, short film screening and group discussion, all events designed for functional English students from colleges all over Chandigarh. Over 75 participants got registered for this novel attempt at promoting inter-college harmony and developing a strong foundation for knowledge sharing and putting theoretical skills into practice.
