Bhartiya Vidya Mandir hosted Ludhiana Sahodaya Group Folk Dance Competition. The event commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by esteemed members of the BVM Trust. Principal Bandana Sethi welcomed the dignitaries, trust members and participants. Students sought blessings of Lord Ganesha. 27 teams from prestigious institutions participated and demonstrated their artistic talent through splendid performance leaving the audience spellbound. Team from Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, bagged the first prize, second prize was won by BCM, Shastri Nagar, and Guru Nanak International School, Model Town, bagged third prize. KVM, Civil Lines, won consolation prize.

GK quiz

Sri Guru Hargobind Public Senior Secondary School, Thakkarwal, organised GK quiz at junior and senior level. The competition consisted of 14 rounds including audio-visual, geographical, universal, current affairs, capitals and currency of different countries. Students responded to the questions with great fervidity. Principal Suman Arora applauded the students and said the quiz was a little effort to impart the knowledge of all aspects that plays a vital role in one’s personality.

Sports meet

DAV, BRS Nagar, will organise DAV National Sports Punjab State (girls) Tournament on November 2 and 3. The event will be organised under the guidance and able leadership of the Principal JK Sidhu. 800 students from four clusters — Jalandhar zone, Patiala and Ferozepur zone, Bathinda zone and Amritsar zone are going to participate in 21 disciplines. Some of them include table tennis, lawn tennis, handball, athletics, judo, swimming, boxing, archery and gymnastics.

English Language Week

MGM Public School, Dugri, celebrated English language week. Headmistress Sunita Vij stressed learning a language is an art. It takes skill, patience and discipline in order to learn it. The programme was aimed at promoting English learning and understanding and to inculcate the habit of English reading and improving the vocabulary of students. Competitions such as spell bee, dialogue delivery, listening skills, public speaking and many more were organised through the week. The learners actively participated in the events and made it a huge success.

Halloween Day

Students of BCM Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road, organised a masquerade and face painting competition on the occasion of Halloween Day for the students of Classes IX-X. Students participated enthusiastically and showcased their talents.

Quiz contest

Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Pakhowal Road, organised a quiz contest to commemorate Parkash Utsav of Guru Ram Das. Principal Dr Manjit Kaur congratulated the winners and certificates were awarded. She also encouraged the children for religious and moral education.

Tug-of-war contest

To strengthen sports activities an inter-house tug of war was organised at Ram Lal Bhasin Public School and the enthusiasm of the students was really commendable. Principal Raman Oberoi applauded the winning teams and extended her best wishes.

Declamation competition

Ryan International School, Jamalpur got privilege to organize an exhilarating Sahodaya Inter-School Declamation Competition. Students from 18 schools participated to express their opinions and views on different topics. Their unbiased views and valuable tips satiated all the participants. All the participants exhibited their refined oratory skills and competed for the first three positions. — TNS
