Government College for Girls (GCG) released the merit list for admissions in non-medical and medical streams of Class XI today. The college has 45 seats for each stream. According to the college authorities, the students who have 96.92 per cent to 85.43 per cent marks were selected for general category of medical stream. Students belonging to scheduled castes (SC) having 85 per cent to 77 per cent were selected. Students from backward class having marks between 84.51 per cent to 84 per cent were selected.
In non-medical stream, the students of general category were selected from 95.08 per cent to 89.23 per cent marks. Students from SC category were selected from 89.1 per cent 81.2 per cent. The students who have scored 88.3 percent to 87 per cent marks of OBC category were selected.
While the college authorities also conducted sport trials for the aspirants who seek admission under sports quota. The aspirants participated in trials of different sports events.
Meanwhile, Satish Chander Dhawan (SCD) Government College, conducted counselling for admissions of BCom, MCom and BA reserved categories today.
Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu, principal of the college, said counselling was conducted for 140 seats of BCom. The authorities examined documents of 75 students of general category and 65 students of other categories.
Meanwhile, 22 students from general category, 10 from SC, 2 from OBC and 8 from other categories appeared for counselling. Two reserved seats including single girl child and cancer victim are still vacant.
Yesterday the college conducted counseling for BBA, BCA and BA.
The students who appeared for counselling at college campus had inconvenience searching the respective counseling desk. The students demand that college authorities should have put lists about the locations of separate counseling desks on the notice board.
College extend dates
Due to the late declaration of the results of BA-III and CET PG for MCom (business innovations) the SCD Government College today extended the date of online registration for MA. (English, Punjabi, Hindi and Economics), MSc (Mathematics) and MCom (Business Innovations) first semester has been extended till July 7. Now students can register online for these courses till July 7 and submit their forms till July 9. The final merit list for these courses will be uploaded on website on July 10 and counseling will take place on July11.
