As the admission process for Class XI in city’s government schools starts tomorrow, parents are praying that their wards get admission to the best school.
Radhima Sharma, a parent, said she was hopeful that her daughter would get admission to GMSSS-16 as the institution was among the top three government schools in the city.
Arshia Khan, a student from Manimajra, seeking admission to Class XI said she was looking forward to studying at GMSSS-16 as the school had been showed the best results for Class 12 for the last few years.
Notably, the seats at city’s top schools will be filled in the first counselling and the rest of the schools will display their cut-offs later.
This year, the total number of seats has been increased to 13,000 while last year, the number of seats was 12,925 in senior secondary schools in the city.
For humanities, there are 6,000 seats; in science stream there are 3,025; vocational courses have 2,000 seats and for commerce, 1,900 seats are available in the schools.
Meanwhile, like last year, this year also these top schools will be aiming for getting the maximum number of admission forms, but nothing less than the perfect 10 can assure entry to any stream offered by these schools. The top 10 Government Model Senior Secondary Schools are from Mani Majra, Sectors 16, Sector 37-B, 35,19, 18, 32, 10, 40 and 33.
