Hard work, consistency pays off for students of Pinjore school

Toppers in the CBSE Class XII exams from Panchkula are from unexpected quarters this time. Amravati Vidyalaya in Pinjore, generated two toppers from the district and even left Bhavan Vidyalaya of Sector 15 behind in two streams. Bhavan Vidyalaya was known for generating toppers from the tricity.

Shivankit Gaind, a student from Amravati Vidyalaya, Pinjore ( in the peripheral area of Panchkula), topped in the non-medical stream with 96.6 per cent. While Kamaldeep from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, secured second place in the non-medical stream with 95.6 per cent.

Shivankit, who aims to become a computer engineer, studied for 10 to 12 hours a day. Shivankit is the son of a businessman and is a resident of Pinjore. Ishu Chaudhary, a student of Amravati Vidyalaya, also turned out to be the topper in the district from the medical stream with 94.8 per cent.

In commerce, Anjali Mann topped securing 95.8 per cent from Satluj Public School, Sector 4. In commerce, Kriti and Prachi Sharma of Bhavan Vidyalaya scored 95.6 per cent each. In humanities, Bhavan Vidyalaya took the lead as Shraddha Sharma topped with 96.6 percent.

Shashi Banerjee, principal of Bhavan Vidyalaya, said that due to quota problem, all good students usually shifted to Chandigarh after Class X itself and they tried to generate good results with the given students. Here, of the 68 studnets, 33 got above 90 per cent. Nine students got above 90 per cent in DAV School, Surajpur. In Panchkula, a total of 1,241 students appeared for the Class XII exam and1,103 passed. The pass percentage this year was 88.87. Last year the pass percentage was 88.13 as a total of 1,323 students had appeared.
