INDUCTION MEETING
Ludhiana: An induction meeting of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held at IGNOU Special Study Centre, Everest Public Senior Secondary School, Moti Nagar. Pargat Singh, senior assistant, IGNOU Regional Centre, Khanna, was the chief guest on the occasion. Pargat Singh gave detailed information about the policy and programmes of IGNOU. He said every year there were more than 30 lakh students who received education form IGNOU and its centres, not only in India but throughout the world. He said IGNOU offered different value added need-based education to students in Punjab through a large network of student learning centres. Asha Sharma, coordinator, IGNOU Special Study Centre 2210-D, threw light on various subjects taken by the newcomers and advised them to study wholeheartedly. She said IGNOU provided the opportunity to persons who had not matriculated, to graduate in any stream by clearing Bachelor Preparatory Programme.
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY
Brats n Cuties celebrated Grandparents' Day. Students came dressed in colourful attires and presented various performances. Games were organised for grandparents. Prizes were distributed to the winners. A medal of appreciation was given to all the grandparents who participated in the function. The grandparents gave their views about the programme.
EACH ONE TEACH ONE
The International Women Academy of DCM Presidency School has initiated a new project, ‘Each one, teach one’ for empowerment of women, wherein teachers will educate the school female support staff. The main aim of the programme is to teach the support staff, basic linguistic and mathematical skills, so that they are able to lead a better life even outside the school campus. —TNS
