It’s a perfect 10 at two city govt schools

For the third time in a row, the highest cut-off of CGPA 10 in the general category again went to Government Model Senior Secondary School, Mani Majra Modern Complex (MMC). The school registered a perfect 10 in science stream like previous years. Notably, in 2014, too, the school had recorded the city’s highest cut-off of CGPA 9.8 in the general category for the science stream.

The school has shared the top spot with GMSSS-16 which has also recorded a cut-off of CGPA 10 in 

science stream. It is the first time there is a tie between two schools for the top slot.

Science stream

According to the Chandigarh Education Department’s final merit list, released on Friday, the second and the third spots have been bagged by GMSSS-35 and GMSSS-19 with CGPA 9.4 and 9.2, respectively, in the general category.

Commerce stream

In commerce stream, the second spot has been bagged by GMSSS, Mani Majra Modern Complex, with CGPA 9.8 while the third spot holder is GMSSS-16 with CGPA 9.6. Significantly, these two schools have registered the highest cut-off in commerce stream.

Humanities

In humanities, GMSSS-16 has got the highest cut-off of CGPA 9.2.

Notably, stream-wise and school-wise lists include the names of all those eligible candidates who have applied for admission to Class XI and have given options in the order of preference for science/commerce/ vocational/humanities streams.

The seats were allotted on the basis of merit position (after settlement of tie points), availability of seats and preferences given by the candidate, an official of the Education Department said.

The Chandigarh Education Department had received 15,364 application forms for 13,000 seats in Class XI in city’s Government Senior Secondary Schools.

Advisory for students

  • Candidates who did not deposit the fee today are advised to deposit fees in schools, where the seats were allotted, on July 2 from 9 am onwards
  • Students should report at schools along with admission form, a spare set of photocopies of certificates, original documents for verification and latest photograph
  • In case fee is not deposited on the due date, the allotment of seat will be cancelled
  • Option of school and stream given in the application form cannot be changed before the completion of the first round of counseling
  • For change of school/stream/option, a candidate can submit form in the second round of the counselling on July 16
  • The third counselling is yet to be announced
  • In case there is any discrepancy/ objection, it must be intimated to Grievances Redressal Cell
