University Vice-Chancellor Maj Gen Dr Ranjeet Singh (retd) said: “We have also issued notices to some colleges and asked the managements to upgrade their institutes as per the guidelines of the NCTE otherwise strict action will be taken against them.”

He said that six colleges had applied for closure as they had received poor response from applicants. “Monitoring teams of the university are visiting BEd colleges located in different districts and are keeping a strict vigil over the functioning of these colleges,” he said.
