The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, today organised a poster-making contest in connection with the “Accessible India Campaign” (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) launched by the Union government.

Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan is a nationwide flagship campaign to achieve universal accessibility for differently-abled people. The awareness programme was aimed at sensitising students towards the special needs of differently-abled people.

Satnam Kour, Dean, Students Welfare, said the university was committed to organise such meaningful programmes which were aimed for larger interest of the society and that more mass awareness programmes in this connection would follow.

Students from different teaching departments of the University of Jammu participated in the event and expressed their thoughts creatively through colours.

Bharti Heer and Parshottma from The Law School of the university were declared first and second place winners, respectively. Megavika from the Department of Home Science secured the third position. Manoj Chopra and Dr Sanjay Sharma were judges for the event.

While felicitating the winners, Prof Kour congratulated participants for taking part in the initiative and encouraged them to be the ambassadors for awareness about the rights of the differently-abled people.
