Karnal: District Education Officer (DEO) Suresh Goria today raided the junior wing of St Theresa’s Convent Senior Secondary School here for selling books on the school premises

The DEO locked the room in which the books were kept for sale for violating the orders of the department. Under the rules, the sale of books, stationery, bag and uniform on the school premises is strictly prohibited

The department would issue a notice to the school seeking explanation for running commercial activities on the school premises, said the DEO

After getting information about books and other material were being sold on the school premises, he along with other staff members conducted the raid and found the allegations to be true, he added

He said other schools would also be inspected to check the violation of the rules. “No school is allowed to sell books, uniform or other items on the school premises to parents as well as children,” he said, adding that directions had already been sent to the schools in this regard. TNS
