Lohri celebrated with pomp and show

Various schools of the city celebrated Lohri with fervour today. Teachers and students participated with the same enthusiasm at various functions organised by the schools.
Eastwood International School
Eastwood International School celebrated Lohri with fervor and enthusiasm. A special assembly was organised where in students were apprised of importance of the festival. Students performed Punjabi Folk dances and tapped their feet to Punjabi music. Various activities such as kite flying, card making and rangoli making were organised, followed by lighting the holy fire by Principal Rinku Rekhi. Rekhi gave her warm wishes and blessed the students. She emphasised that we must celebrate Lohri on the birth of a girl child. She stressed on the need to educate the girls which would lead to the change of their status in society.
Guru Nanak International Public School
Lohri was celebrated at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town with great zeal and fervor. A special morning assembly was conducted to highlight the importance of the festival. An aura of joy and festivity reverberated the campus as the students from Nursery to class X were engrossed in the festive spirit. The holy fire was lit and the ritual of offering ‘prasad’ to the fire was performed by the principal and the staff members.
Everest Public School
Lohri was celebrated with pomp and show by the students of Everest Public Senior Secondary School, Moti Nagar. Principal Asha Sharma intimated the students about the importance of the day. Rajinder Sharma, President, Association of the Punjab School Education Board, presided over the function. Asha Sharma told the students about the cultural heritage of the country. An ‘Inter-house Kite-Flying Competition’ was also organised.
Darshan Academy
Darshan Academy celebrated Lohri with pomp and show. School made special arrangements on the occasion. The celebration started with melodious songs by students. Tiny tots were dressed in traditional dresses. The significance of Lohri was explained by the student of Class VII. The spirit of students was high to match the mood of celebration. Students tapped to the tunes of famous ‘boliyaan’ of Lohri. The principal wished all teachers and students and gave her blessings. The celebration ended with the distribution edibles such as popcorns, peanuts and ‘revri’.
Nankana Sahib Public School
Kindergarten students, teachers and other staff of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, celebrated Lohri with enthusiasm. Students tapped their feet to famous Punjabi numbers. They savoured peanuts, ‘rewaries’, ‘gachak’ and popcorns. School Principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich wished the students and told them about the significance of this day.
