Ludhiana: To celebrate and relish the taste of the most favourite fruit, mango, children at Kids Castle celebrated Mango Day. Students were dressed up in yellow dresses, the colour of mango. They also wore beautiful paper cut-outs of mango around their necks. They enjoyed mango slices and mango drinks. Children also danced on mango songs on the occasion.
Students recite poems
Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, organised Alphabet Day on the school campus for students of the Kindergarten wing to provide them a platform to increase their confidence and knowledge. The objective behind conducting this activity was to promote awareness and a conceptual framework for supporting and encouraging language learning and to lay emphasis on the relevance of phonetics in spoken English, said the school authorities. Students were dressed up in costumes of different objects, fruits and vegetables according to alphabets. They also performed on the ramp. The students displayed their talent by reciting poems on all alphabets. Principal Jyoti Pujara emphasised on the importance of English literature and language in today’s era. She said such competitions help students and teachers to explore different aspects of a subject and generate confidence and competitive spirits among children.
Poem recitation
World Family Day was observed at St GDS Convent School, Meharban, by students of the primary and secondary sections. Various events that were conducted included songs, speeches, role plays and poem recitation. The students participated wholeheartedly in the events that were conducted to convey the message of importance of family in one’s life. Principal Upasana Gautam addresses the students and told them the importance of the day. Such programmes increase confidence in students and inculcate the values required to be a good human being.
Family Day observed
Kindergarten students of BCM celebrated Family Day with enthusiasm. To mark the celebrations, students were assigned different roles such as grandfather, grandmother, father, mother and sister under the guidance of teachers. Enactment was done to make the students realise the importance of family bonding. The motive behind the celebrations was to imbibe the feeling of love and care in the young minds. In the present scenario of having a nuclear family, it is essential to organise such activities to inculcate in children the value of love and respect for the elders of the family.
Sandpit activity
A week-long sandpit activity was organised at Spring Dale Senior Secondary Public School with the motto of teaching and learning through play and fun. During the week, students of the Kindergarten practiced mathematical skills and learnt about numbers, shapes and sorting. While playing in sand mounds in the playing ground, science concepts were also introduced. They were made to observe, experiment and learn things such as what happens when water is put in the sand. Sand castle activity taught the students utilisation of their hands and fingers through activities such as digging and writing on the sand, which in turn enhance their finer motor skills. They indulged in learning through play with fervour and zeal. On the concluding day of the activity, future scholars came equipped with tools such as spades, shovels and pails to participate in different activities. Managing Director Avinash Kaur Walia, Principal Kamalpreet Kaur and all other dignitaries applauded the efforts of the students.
Brainstorming workshop
A brainstorming workshop was organised for Grades I-VII for three days at Manav Rachna International School. Different group activities were organised for different grades keeping in mind each child’s potential. The objective of the workshop was to work on the emotional quotient of children and to enhance their ability of being humane. The students were interactive and participated with enthusiasm and zeal, especially in group activities. These activities helped children in inculcating the sense of leadership, self-expressions and improve communications skills for the holistic development.
