The state government has cracked the whip on the private and unaided dental colleges regarding admission to the master of dental surgery (MDS), postgraduate degree and diploma courses in the open and management categories.
“There will be centralised counselling for the management category in all private/unaided dental colleges under the close observation of Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, and state observer appointed by the Director, Medical Education and Research. No counselling will be held in individual institutes,” a notification issued by KK Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, said.
The notification said 60 per cent of the total seats would be in the open merit category and the remaining 40 per cent will be the management category. Out of the 40 per cent seats in the management category, 15 seats will be in the NRI category. For the open merit category, the admissions will be made on the basis of the relative merit in the All-India Postgraduate Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGDEE-2016) conducted by authority notified by the Government of India.
The relative merit, among candidates want to take admission, will be drawn as per the merit of the AIPGDEE-2016 in the all-India merit and the state merit list for all those candidates who have cleared the examination with or above such distinction as had been declared minimum eligibility criteria for granting admission.
In fact, in a bid to instil transparency in the admission process, an admission committee under the chairmanship of the Registrar of the PT BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, has been constituted. The Director, Medical Education and Research, will be the appellate authority in all admission-related disputes in the private institute.
“The applications for admission for the open merit category of seats will be received by the Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences and the counselling for such seats will also be held at the university,” the notification said.
However, the admission under the management quota will be made on the basis of the relative merit of the AIPGDEE-2016 and the relative state merit in the examination. Besides, the admission will also be made on the basis of the common competitive examination approved by the state government.
