Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema honoured students, who achieved top three positions in classes X and XII examinations, with cash prizes at a state-level prize distribution and career guidance function held at the Punjab School Education Board auditorium here today.
In Class XII, joint toppers in the science group, Darshveer Kaur Kalsi and Sayima Rashid, topper in the arts group Sarika, topper in the commerce group Sarvodya and the top achiever in the vocational group Channpreet Singh were awarded cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each.
In Class X, first position-holder Nitasha Aggarwal received Rs 1 lakh as cash prize. All second position-holders in both classes were given Rs 75,000 each and those who remained at the third position got Rs 50,000 each as cash prize.
Apart from that, top three position-holders in the sports merit list, Namrit Kaur (1), Shivam Kumar and Kirandeep Kaur (joint 2nd position) and Kanchanpreet Kaur (3) were honoured with cash prizes.
Dr Cheema also honoured Dr Kuldeep Singh, Sukhdev Madhopuri and DPI Balbir Singh Dhol for their contribution in the academic field.
Punjab School Education Board’s chairperson Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, vice-chairman Suresh Tandon, career guidance expert Dr BS Ghuman and Director General School Education Pardeep Agarwal were also present on the occasion.
