Government Mohindra College celebrated its success as it scored 3.86 NAAC CGPA out of 4, making it the number one college in the country.

Punjab Higher Education Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra affirmed that Mohindra college is a symbol of progress, due to which the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NACC) has awarded it with the highest CGPA of 3.86 in cycle 2 of accreditation.

With this achievement, the college has achieved new heights in the field of education and managed to gain prominence for Patiala and Punjab regions as well.

Under the leadership of college Principal Dr Sukhbir Singh Thind, new courses have been started at the college such as MSc Physics, MSc Chemistry, BSc Agriculture, BSc CSM, MA Psychology, MA Public Administration, MA Sociology, BA LLB, BJMC, etc., and is already planning to inculcate some diploma courses and honours school physics, chemistry, mathematics as well.

He said the college faculty had about 60 students registered for PhD keeping in view the need for more space to study, new blocks such as self-finance block, science bock, law block, parking zone, girls hostel, etc., had been recently built at the college.

Rakhra made it a point that the government has always been lenient with funds for the development of government institutions.

He asserted that this college would have ample amount of funds in future as well. Over 8,000 students are a part of Mohindra college. To assist education in the rural areas, a neighbourhood campus would be built in Bhanra as well.

He gave an assurance that as soon as stay on government appointments was taken off, more permanent faculty would be appointed and the salary scale of guest faculty would be improved.

Dr Thind said the UGC had designated the college as the community college as well. The college had always worked for the uplift of education and society and would do so in future also. The college gives priority to students and their needs.

Dr Thind said the grand success in the NACC accreditation was the result of joint efforts of team Mahindra. The college has earned the title of the “best college in India” for five years.
