Women teachers will escort the girl students whenever they are travelling. As per the plan, even if there is a single girl in the group there must be a female teacher.

It further said the students must keep valid identity card during journey and should never be sent unescorted.

All concerned heads of Navodaya Vidyalayas have been further asked to ensure that food articles sold through unauthorised vendors are to be avoided.

They were also asked to issue strict instructions to children not to move outside the compartment or to get down at a station without the escort.

The escorting teacher must travel in the same class of accommodation and in the same compartment as that of the students.

“In case the party is very large, students should be divided into groups and one escort to each group deputed, who will be responsible for the group,” the Samiti said in statement.

It was further stressed that the entry to the campus should be ensured from the main gate only.

Institutions have also been asked to maintain the record of entries. Parents/outsiders should be allowed to meet students only on second Saturday of every month.

The Samiti also said cases of molestation of students must be viewed very seriously. “The Principal should without delay provide a complete report to the Regional Office.”
