The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today described a “rumour” relating to ban on wearing of turban by Sikh students in exams as “totally forged, concocted and baseless”.
“A fake and fabricated message has been posted on Facebook by some mischief mongers under the name of the board relating to ban on wearing of turban by Sikh students while appearing in various examinations. The move is condemned and refuted,” an official spokesperson of the JKBOSE said.
He said, “Accordingly, it is notified for the information of all the stakeholders, particularly the Sikh students appearing in the JKBOSE examinations, not to pay any heed to such hoax and bogus posts displayed on social media by vested elements for some mala fide intentions and to vitiate the smooth and fair conduct of examinations.”
Veena Pandita, secretary, JKBOSE, said someone mischievous elements played a prank on social media wherein it was stated that the Minister for Education, Altaf Bukhari, had ordered wearing of turban by Sikh students in exams. “There is no such order either from the minister or the Board. The general public should not pay any heed to such rumors,” Pandita said.
