A leading cycle manufacturing company is providing the cycles on rent for fun riders and students at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Initially, the company provided 10 cycles but according to the spokesperson of the company, 11 more cycles will be provided for the purpose.
The company has collaborated with the PAU to promote the habit of cycling among residents and students. An automatic locking stand has been installed for the cycles near gate number 2.
The company will issue the cycles on a rent of Rs 30 per hour. Those who have entry rights to the PAU campus and students can get the cycle on rent from 5 am to 9 am and from 4 pm to 8 pm. The rider can’t go outside the PAU campus with the cycle.
The representatives of the company are getting a good response from the residents. Ravi Kumar, in-charge of the project, said, “I have received several calls in the last few days. Several people are demanding these cycles for exercise in the morning and evening. We have only nine cycles as of yet. We will increase the number of cycles soon.”
“The object of this drive is to provide easy access to the cycles to the students and fun lovers to promote the habit of cycling,” he added.
The company provides a pre-paid digital swapping card to the riders. The riders have to swap the card to unlock the cycle from the stand. After the ride, when the rider parks the cycle at the stand by swapping the card, the money would automatically be duducted as per the time taken for the bicycle ride.
