NSUI protests against JU Controller of Exams

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) today staged a noisy demonstration against the alleged “irresponsible” behaviour of the Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu, on the issue of not extending the date of submission of re-evaluation forms for law students.

Led by the Avijot Singh, state general secretary of the NSUI, accompanied with Raqqeek Khan and Amjad Bhat state vice-presidents, NSUI activists raised slogans against Controller of Examinations Keshav Sharma and alleged that despite the fact that the last date for submission of re-evaluation forms was on June 5, the day when all the schools and colleges were closed on the directions of Divisional Commissioner, the university authorities did not pay any heed to the requests of students for extending the date to two or more days.

They alleged that when they approached the Controller of Examinations, he argued that the university was open on June 5 and it was functioning on the instructions of the Vice Chancellor.

Avijot Singh, while addressing the protesters, said the university authorities gave 15 days to students to submit their forms, but out of those 15 days, there were only seven working days because of curfews and restrictions imposed by the government. “The university administration should have itself extended the date of submission of forms, but in spite of the directions given by Divisional Commissioner that all the educational institutions would remain closed on June 5, how come the university flouted it blatantly,” he alleged.

He also criticised the hike in late fee and termed it as a move which would affect poor students and demanded its immediate rollback.
