He also directed the staff that tokens should be issued to students who come to the counter so that there are no long queues. He further directed the staff that until the token machine at the single window would not become operational, alternative arrangement of tokens should be made for students.

A token machine, which was installed at the single window around four years ago, is lying defunct.

The machine was installed to issue token to students so that they do not have to stand for long in the queues. When their token number was displayed on the LCD fixed above the counter, they could get the required information.

The company, which had installed the machine at the single window, had failed to connect it with the computer that helps in displaying the token number. Even the LCD was not installed till date at the counters.

PU Registrar Col GS Chadha (retd) held a meeting with employees of the single window and sent a communication to the defaulting company, which had installed the token machine, to make it operational for the facility of students and outsiders.

Recently, the department also shortlisted some physically challenged youths who would be trained for telephone operators on the helpline and single window counter to give information to students.
