The Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER) today announced to start the admission process to fill about 600 postgraduate seats in medical and dental colleges in the state.

Counselling for the admissions will start on April 13 at the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) here. Instead of online counselling, the university has asked all eligible candidates to be present.

Earlier, the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) was to start online counselling on March 18, but it was postponed after the CMC (Christian Medical College), Ludhiana, a minority-status medical college, challenged the combined counselling by the former.

During the upcoming counselling, BFUHS will also make admissions to 80 PG degree and diploma seats in the CMC.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had announced that there would be a common counselling and no college would be exempted from it.

While issuing the counselling schedule today, BFUHS included the CMC and Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, both minority-status colleges, in the list.

The DMER announced that the fee structure of Adesh University (Bathinda) and the CMC would be as mentioned in their respective prospectus, subject to the condition that the state government’s approval is obtained by these colleges.

The fee structure in these colleges is not on a par with other private medical colleges in the state.
