Pi Approximation Day celebrated at school

The Central School for Tibetans, Mussoorie, organised "Pi Approximation Day" on its school premises here today. Students participated with full vigour and enthusiasm in the event.
The approximate value of the date 22/7 is Pi ( ) or 22 divided by 7 equals 3.14. Kuldeep Rawat of class XII displayed a magical skill on approximation. Ravi Verma and Thinley Wangmo of class XII also explained the conceptual details of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
Robin of class XII demonstrated how the ratio remains always a constant. Muskan Naithani of class XII coordinated the programme. Principal Anita Narula addressed the importance of such valuable programmes at school level. She said the programme was an effort to awaken young minds towards mathematics.
Asit Katayan, a senior teacher, lauded the efforts of students to invoke the mathematical core in every activity of the school and society. The entire programme was a supervised by Subas Chandra Rauto, mathematics teacher.
Pi Day is an unofficial holiday that celebrates the mathematical constant pi. It is celebrated on March 14 in countries that follow the month/day/date format because the digits in the date (3/14) correspond with the first three digits of (3.14) which is the value of pi.
Pi Day on March 14 also coincides with Albert Einstein's birthday.
