Suri said, “Many private schools will donate furniture for students who have to sit on the floors, if the UT Education Department allows. I have already spoken about this to some of my friends in the city who are running schools,” Suri told Chandigarh Tribune. He said currently, he had spare furniture for over 100 students in his school. “There are many schools which have spare furniture and their heads will be glad to donate it to the government schools that need them. I can arrange for the painting and repair of the furniture, so that it can be shifted to the needy schools in a good condition in 10 days.”

Mamik who is also the chairperson of Vivek High School, Sector 38, said, “Every school has spare furniture and teaching aids. If each school chips in, we can bring a change in the lives of the students studying in government schools.”

Meanwhile, Chanchal Singh, Deputy Director, School Education, UT, welcomed the move. He said, “The Government Primary Schools, Railway Colony and Mauli Jagran, do not have enough space. We will, however, discuss the details with the donors. ”
