Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training (PSBTE & IT) has abolished the JET test for the year 2016-17. Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) appreciated the decision taken by the Punjab government to abolish Joint Entrance Test (JET). JET has been already abolished by many states. Dr Anshu Kataria, president, PUCA, appreciated the decision and thanked Madan Mohan Mittal, Technical Education Minister and Sewa Singh Sekhwan, chairman, Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training (PSBTE & IT).
STUDENT BAGS LAURELS
Sarita Arora, a student of department of English, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, secured third position in Panjab University examinations and was awarded degree during the annual convocation at university. Principal Arwinder Singh Bhalla congratulated her and wished her bright future. He said she is rle model for her juniors.
MEDICAL CAMP
Synetic Business School organised one-day medical camp at Rajguru Nagar. The health camp was organised with the objective of providing free medical check-up and introducing Unani and herbal products. Dr Ghazala Qadri who is relentlessly spreading the awareness of healthy mind in healthy body through Unani and herbal remedies played a major role in organizing the camp. Patients were given medicines and counseling for kidney diseases, diabetes, arthritis and other body ailments. Her medical team regularly keeps follow up with more than 500 patients that they have counseled in last eleven camps.
MUSICAL EVENT
The PG Department of Music Vocal, Ramgarhia Girls College, organised an event wherein renowned young and talented artiste Vidushi Mahalaxmi Shenoy performed. Principal Dr Inderjit Kaur accorded a cordial welcome to the guest. Mentored by the best artistes of India, Shenoy has numerous live concerts and albums to her credit. She is from ‘Kirana Gharana’ and with her complete devotion towards Hindustani music; she has become a name to reckon with. She gave a soulful performance at the college and motivated the students to practice regularly. Dr Inderjit Kaur averred that with its various accomplishments, the department has always done the college proud.
FAREWELL
It was a special moment for the students of UG & PG Faculty of humanities as the juniors bid farewell to their seniors. Gurbir Singh, president, Guru Nanak Education Trust and Principal Charanjit Mahal presided over the function. To add colour to the occasion the students presented an entertaining cultural programme. The main attraction of the programme was the modeling by students of the final year dressed in trendy clothes, as they walked down the ramp with rhythmic music in the background.
NCC cadet bags laurels
Manjinder Singh, a student of BA final year of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, have commendable achievements as an NCC cadet in last three years. Manjinder who has attended several camps shared his experience of being an NCC cadet with a sense of pride. “I had just taken NCC because my friends had joined in the first year. Not only has NCC given me a break but it has changed the very purpose of my life. I am an entirely changed man now. “Earlier, I thought myself to be a scattered personality but now I am disciplined and tell others how to lead a systematic life,” said Manjinder. — TNS
