Panjab University is all set to launch student feedback forms from the next academic session, 2015-16. Students’ feedback would be collected through these forms as decided by the PU Senate and Syndicate.
The feedback form contains questions, including feedback on curriculum as well as teaching, learning and evaluation where students will be asked to rate teachers on attitude, subject knowledge, communication and punctuality on a scale of 1 to 5, depending on whether they agree or disagree.
The student feedback form and other academic issues were discussed at the monthly chairpersons’ meeting of Panjab University here today.
The meeting was presided over by Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover.
The meeting discussed the benefits of adopting Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN) in higher education, which is aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India.
The guidelines and possibilities for empanelment of adjunct faculty in universities and colleges for skill-based vocational courses as well as general education and research were also discussed and deliberated.
The Global Initiative for Academic Networks is envisaged to catalyse higher education institutions in the country. It will initially include all IITs, IIMs, Central Universities, IISc Bangalore, IISERs, NITs and IIITs. It will subsequently cover good state universities where the spinoff is vast.
Panjab University has decided to adopt five villages of Chandigarh for transforming them as Adarsh villages under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Panjab University has adopted Khuda Lahora, Dhanas, Dadu Majra, Khuda Ali Sher and Sarangpur under the scheme.
The Panjab University Vice-Chancellor asked the chairpersons of various departments to contribute for the success of the initiative.
In an office order issued by the university, Panjab University Registrar Col GS Chadha (retd) has directed that the work should not only involve the cleanliness of the villages, but also the Panjab University teams should examine the aspects of solutions for solid and liquid waste management, waste disposal especially of cow dung and food waste.
They could also examine the issue of grey water, which emerges from the houses and its disposal either to the close village pond for the purpose.
Prof Seema Kapoor of the University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology would act as the coordinator and Dr Gaurav Gour, Centre for Social Work, would be the cocoordinator for the implementation of the project.
