The transfer of management courses to Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) has dented the revenue of Himachal Pradesh University. “We can understand the logic behind transferring engineering, technical and information technology (MCA and BCA) courses, but management courses like BBA and MBA should have remained with us,” said Vice-Chancellor, HPU, Prof ADN Bajpai.

VC for collective efforts to develop HPU

Vice-Chancellor Prof ADN Bajpai gave a clarion call for bringing the university among the top 10 in the country. Professor Bajpai called for collective efforts for an all-round development of the university.

He asked the teaching fraternity to achieve excellence in academics, research and extension to retain the academic autonomy intact.

They should make sacrifices, ensure transparency and work for the betterment of the institution, he said. Highlighting the achievements of the university in the past six years, Professor Bajpai laid emphasis on maintaining discipline, cleanliness, launch of new projects and campus beautification.

MoU signed

Himachal Pradesh University signed an MoU with Deakin University, Australia, for research in medical sciences, life sciences and physical sciences. Prof JR Kanwar from Deakin and Dr Pankaj Lalit, Registrar, HPU, signed the MoU in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof ADN Bajpai, who said both institutions had research potential. The purpose of the MoU is to combine the core competence of both universities and undertake collaborative initiatives to develop science and technology in the emerging fields, especially, in medical sciences that have the potential to do good for society and therefore the focus should be on sharing scientific knowledge through exchange programmes.

The signing of MoU preceded an interaction session between the Australian counterparts of the Deakin University and Deans, Directors and Chairpersons of the HPU for the implementation and execution of the MoU.
