Sajid Javed wins inter-college debate competition

As a part of its Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Northern Region (NR)-II, Jammu, today organised an inter-college debate competition at Government MAM College here.

The topic of the competition was “Is corruption-free India possible”. Nine colleges of the Jammu province participated. The speakers spoke both in favour and against the motion.

Earlier, the programme started with the welcome of SK Sharma, Executive Director, Power Grid, NR-II, followed by lighting of the lamp by Prof Sangeeta Sudan, Head of the Chemistry Department of the college.

Principal of the college Anita Sudan in her address thanked the Power Grid for choosing the college as the venue for the competition. She urged upon the children to live a life of integrity and truthfulness.

Sajid Javed of Government Degree College (GDC), Thanamandi, bagged top honours, while Mohammad Mazid of the host MAM College and Kekkashan Shehnaz of Government Degree College, Udhampur, had to be contended with the second position. Guneet of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, clinched the third position.

In his address, SK Sharma appreciated the performance of all the participants and congratulated them for expressing their opinions. The Executive Director also apprised the audience of the steps being taken by the Power Grid in eradicating corruption and bringing transparency in its operation.

The colleges that participated in the debate competition were Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Sri Pratap Memorial Rajput College of Commerce, Jammu, Government Degree College, Kathua, Government Degree College, Thanamandi, Government Degree College, Paloura, Government Degree College, Samba, Government Degree College, Udhampur, Vishav Bharti College and host MAM College.
